About the event
Power BI & Fabric Summit
The Power BI & Fabric Summit is an event to learn the best practices, new features, and lessons in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI world by attending a single conference that offers both topics.
First, the Power BI Summit is a multi-day event bringing speakers from the Microsoft Power BI team’s product group, community experts, and MVPs worldwide. This conference is run virtually, and you can attend from anywhere; you only need an internet connection and a computer. This is the fourth year of running the Power BI Summit.
All Power BI topics will be covered in this conference, from beginner to advanced. We will have sessions for Power Query, DAX, Dataflow, Visualization, Power BI Desktop, Power BI report server, Mobile experience, Embedded, Power BI Premium, Architecture, and Governance. There will also be many discussion table talks.
Second, Microsoft Fabric Summit is a multi-day event focusing on all aspects of Microsoft Fabric. This is the first year of running the Microsoft Fabric Summit; it will run alongside the Power BI Summit. Power BI tracks, and Fabric tracks will run in Parallel. Microsoft Fabric Summit covers all aspects of Fabric, including but not limited to, Data Engineering, Data Factory, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Science, Synapse, Real-time Data Analytics, Business intelligence, Power BI, OneLake, Governance, and Administration.
This conference would be an opportunity to learn and network online.
As an attendee, you would have the opportunity to attend sessions from the Power BI Summit or Fabric Summit.
Mastering data pipelines: hands-on with Fabric Data Factory
By Rui Carvalho, BI Specialist at DevScope
In this session, I will dive into the fundamental aspects of building data pipelines from the ground up, utilizing Fabric Data Factory. The session will start with an exploration of Data Flows Gen2 and Data Pipeline concepts, laying a solid foundation for the practical aspects that follow. As we transition into the hands-on segment of the session, I will guide you through a detailed step-by-step process aimed at implementing a fully functional Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipeline. Utilizing the interface and the capabilities in Fabric Data Factory, I will demystify the process of ETL implementation, making it an attainable goal even for those relatively new to data pipeline construction.
The session is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, build, and deploy your first ETL pipeline successfully. The first demonstration will be on using the new Dataflows Gen2 to extract data from an Azure SQL database, transform it using all the capabilities of power query engine present on Dataflows Gen2, and then load the result to a Lakehouse, where we will be able to quickly build a PowerBI report using Direct Lake. As we approach the second demonstration, we will focus on using Data Pipelines to orchestrate an activity to call a REST API that returns data in JSON format, and we will store it in our Lakehouse.
A very common use case in most organizations. This session is structured to provide a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that participants leave with a well-rounded understanding of the core principles of data pipeline construction and the confidence to implement their own projects using Fabric Data Factory.
