The client:

Aura Brand Solutions saved days of manual work every month and sparked a data-driven culture in production by eliminating technical barriers with Power BI Robots.

The End of the Month No One Wanted

Back in 2021, the end of the month at Aura Brand Solutions was synonymous with a grueling manual process. The team would spend one to two full days just extracting data, compiling spreadsheets, and building individual PDFs to send to clients.

For Luke Causton, Technology & Service Development Director, the situation was unsustainable: “If I had to do this manually today, I’d spend days just ‘messing around’ with files. We would probably need to hire another person just to handle it.”

Aura Brands, a leader in manufacturing and installing graphics and signage—from vehicle fleets to architectural spaces across the UK and Europe—had the data, but lacked the agility. They needed a way to communicate KPIs to clients and metrics to the factory floor without constant system “babysitting.”

The Solution: Power BI Robots

Aura Brands found the missing piece for their Business Intelligence strategy in Power BI Robots by DevScope, deploying it on two critical fronts:

1. Automated Client Reporting (SaaS & Trust)

Today, around 25 key clients receive a monthly 7-page PDF report, generated and sent automatically.

  • The Data: Order statuses, SLA compliance, most frequently used parts, and damage analysis by location.
  • The Impact: The process is 100% automated. Clients receive total transparency regarding the service, which has strengthened trust. As Luke notes: “For our clients, the service is seamless. The report simply drops into their inbox, with consistent formatting and timing.”

2. Visual Management on the Factory Floor (Industry 4.0)

The second challenge was technical. Aura Brands wanted to display real-time data on 70-inch screens in production, but the old method (PCs logged into Power BI via browser) was unreliable—sessions expired, refreshes failed, and it required constant IT maintenance.

Using the Playlists/Slideshow feature of  Power BI Robots:

  • Zero Maintenance: The system operates on a “Fire and Forget” model. It is configured once and runs indefinitely without login failures.
  • Visual Management: The printing, cutting, and laminating teams now view job progress, daily “meterage” metrics, and production alerts (traffic light system) in real-time.

Results:

The most surprising impact wasn’t just the time savings, but the behavioral shift in the factory teams.

Initially, introducing screens was a management initiative (“Push”). Today, the production team demands the data (“Pull”). “We had a direct request from the print and laminate team,” says Luke. “They came to us and said: ‘Can you show us this? It will help us manage workflow better on the shop floor’.”

Summary of Impact

  • Efficiency: Saved 1-2 days of manual work per month (equivalent to freeing up a senior resource for high-value tasks).
  • Stability: Total elimination of login/refresh issues on factory screens.
  • Transparency: Automatic delivery of complex KPIs to clients with zero human intervention.
  • Culture: Transition from reactive management to a proactive, data-driven production team.

“The value to us is priceless. We set it up and let it run. If we didn’t have Power BI Robots, we’d be doing everything manually or we’d have to hire someone else just to manage the reporting.”Luke Causton, Technology & Service Development Director, Aura Brands Solutions
